Step 1: Rub a balloon briskly across your hair, then hold the balloon over the bits of paper
Step 1 Observation: The balloon attracted Stanton’s hair (the negatively charged electrons were tranfered to the baloon, attracting the postive protons in Stanton’s hair)
Step 2: Hold the balloon over little bits of paper.
Step 2 Obseravtion: The pieces of paper attracted to the ballon. This is becuase the balloon had opposite charges as the paper, hence the attraction.
Is the balloon charged? Yes! negatively charged
Is the paper charged? Yes! positively charged
Is your hair charged? Yes!
We could design an experiment to test our answer better. We can hold the balloon over more objects to test the charges of certian objects.
Good start, but your description reveals some misunderstandings about charge and redistribution (polarization) of charge. (-10)
